Together Project, a charitable initiative of MakeWay, connects refugee newcomers and Canadians to build stronger, more integrated communities. Based in the Greater Toronto Area, our flagship Welcome Group program matches groups of five or more volunteers with newly arrived refugees for six months of social and integration support. Volunteer Canada and its Corporate Community Engagement Council organized a three-day virtual gathering during the month of August, an event that brought together 90 delegates including the 21 member companies of the Council with nonprofit community partners. The purpose was to reflect together on the current context of living through a pandemic and to re-imagine ways Canadians can volunteer, give and otherwise contribute so that the country can re-build and move towards resilience. From August 17 to 19, 2020, Volunteer Canada held its bi-annual Corporate Community Engagement Council (CCEC) Gathering, bringing together over 90 attendees, including Council member companies, their nonprofit partners, and speakers from Canada, the United States, Ireland and Peru.
